Smart meter politics — A smart way to exploit Goans

In Goa, smart meter politics is being played very cleverly, but unfortunately, it only results in smarter ways to loot the citizens. Instead of benefiting the public, this initiative has become a tool for squeezing more money out of consumers. What is the use of a government that focuses solely on finding new tricks to extract money from the people, offering nothing in return? The power department and its minister seem more interested in making holes in our pockets than serving the interests of Goans. Goa is no different from other states when it comes to government schemes, except that here, citizens are burdened with higher taxes and charges. Other states provide various welfare schemes for their people. It is high time the government stops exploiting the public and starts working sincerely for the welfare of Goa and its people. Citizens deserve transparency, fair policies, and genuine efforts to ease their financial burden—not clever ways to increase it. Government has temporarily paused smart meter rollout but the confusion is still on hold.
